San Lucas Products
The process of making a spoon always startswith finding the wood. San Lucas Tolimán, a coffeegrowing region, coffee, gravilea and tasisico are the most readily available woods. Gravilea is the shade tree for the coffee plants and many people use old scraps of coffee and tasisco for firewood. These are not restricted and grow profusely in the region, and it is a matter of searching for scrap wood, which comes from fallen trees or branches. Although the woods are unprotected, we do have the certification and license to be working with the woods. |
We use the following woods :
Coffee: cream colored, fine grained, medium hard wood. |
Gravilea: sand brown with reddish striations or cross grain marks, medium hard wood. |
Tasisco: Red-blond color with striations and cross grain marks, medium hard wood. |
