How You Can Help
Perhaps you or your group would like to support our project in other ways. We gladly appreciate any donations of tools that might be useful to our project or any monetary donations.
If you have access to tools, or would like to purchase some that we have difficulty finding here in Guatemala, here is a list of some commonly used and needed tools. You can ship them to Concern America PO Box 1790, Santa Ana, CA 92702 Attention: Spoon Project
Tool list of helpful tools from US ( which are hard to find in hardware stores in Guatemala)
-
Palm Gouges for carving and in particular spoon gouges and scrapers
-
Rasp, 4 in Hand, 8inch by Do It Best, Nichlson or others
As always any tools associated with fine carpentry are always welcome. Right now, as we begin with new and deeper forms, such as ladles and dippers the most needed tool is called a spoon gouge, as pictured above. Of course any other tools are always appreciated, 6” C clamps, miter saws, gouges, sharpening stones for gouges, etc. We have limited access to power but even so, used power tools are also appreciated, skill saws or jig / saber saws help cut close to form and save those woods which are less common as they get us closer to the starting point and often help us get more spoons per piece of wood. |
